Legacy Project Update April ’26
The latest in our monthly site meetings with the main contractor, Flemings, took place last week and this brings you up-to-date with the work. In the last update we were expecting work to be completed towards the end of April or start of May, and it now seems that this is likely to be more towards the end of May and early June. This is due, in the main, to a number of critical items not being delivered on time by various subcontractors. This is clearly very frustrating both for Flemings and ourselves, and they continue to press hard to ensure goods are delivered on time.
We were able to look round the annexe following the site meeting and very significant progress has taken place.
- All of the wall coverings are now in place.
- The lighting has been installed.
- The kitchen installation is complete.
- The toilet cubicles have been tiled
- The air-source heat-pumps are in, have been tested and were working well while we were there.
- Thee induction loop system was being fitted to the main hall.
- Stonemasons have been working hard on the doors through from the annexe into the sanctuary and their work is almost complete. Once they finish, the new doors can be put in place and we will notice a big difference when that happens.
There is a bright and airy feel about the annexe and I am sure we will have a building with which we can all be proud.
Outside, the landscaping work is continuing and you will see Sunday by Sunday the changes. Around 20 trees have been planted and more are to come. The path in the front of the Church now extends beyond the steps up from Eaglesham Road and work will begin shortly on the new access road from Mansefield Road.
One other update is that the Session met two Sundays ago to begin to focus on how we maximise all the opportunities that the new annexe presents and we will be back in touch to involve you and to keep you up-to-date.
